Hollywood Road was the second road built in Hong Kong after the founding of the colony, completed in 1844—a decade before California’s Hollywood even existed. Its name comes from the holly bushes that once grew abundantly in the area. The very first road constructed in Hong Kong was Queen’s Road Central, just a year earlier.
